In Person About Us Fairfield Equine Associates is a multi-doctor equine sports medicine practice dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care to performance horses and equine athletes. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Equine Ambulatory Technician to join our team and support our veterinarians in the field. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with horses, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent patient care. Key ResponsibilitiesAmbulatory Vehicle & Equipment Management Drive and maintain the company vehicle for daily ambulatory appointments. Ensure the veterinary truck remains clean, organized, and fully stocked. Notify appropriate staff of any vehicle maintenance needs, repairs, or oil changes. Ensure all required equipment and supplies are prepared for daily appointments. Properly clean, organize, and store equipment after procedures. Troubleshoot and report equipment issues when needed. Patient Handling & Veterinary Assistance Safely restrain horses for examinations and procedures while maintaining safety for the veterinarian, staff, and patient. Assist veterinarians with lameness exams, performance evaluations, and pre-purchase exams . Jog and longe horses as needed for performance and lameness evaluations. Assist with taking radiographs. Perform sterile scrubbing and preparation for injections and other procedures. Medication & Inventory Management Maintain accurate documentation in drug logs. Track medications and supplies dispensed during appointments and ensure accurate billing and replacement. Maintain proper medication inventory within the truck and restock as needed. Accurately transfer medications and supplies from the pharmacy. Monitor expiration dates and assist with inventory counts. Laboratory & Documentation Process blood samples for laboratory submission and complete required paperwork. Communicate laboratory shipping needs (FedEx submissions). Complete accurate Coggins forms. Upload imaging and diagnostics to Asteris. Scheduling & Client Communication Enter and maintain appointments in HVMS , ensuring the schedule remains accurate. Respond to client calls and schedule appointments professionally and promptly. Maintain working knowledge of HVMS, including creating medical histories and invoices. Additional Duties Participate in on-call rotation as required (surgery coverage) . Assist with additional clinic duties as needed. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of sport horse or equine experience required Prior equine veterinary technician experience preferred
LVT/CVT/RVT
a plus Strong horse handling skills and experience with multiple breeds and temperaments Ability to jog horses for lameness evaluations Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Why Join Fairfield Equine?
