Who are we? What if we could create a community of supportive veterinary professionals that collectively used their individual strengths to contribute to the care of all pets? One where animal welfare is elevated by the supportive relationships between our local general practices and the best specialty care available? Our vision for a different kind of specialty hospital was inspired by numerous discussions of the ongoing shortage of specialty services and the need for a real connection between specialists, general practitioners, and our patients. Community Care Veterinary Specialists, in beautiful Gainesville, Florida, is a privately owned small animal specialty hospital in North Central Florida.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of Veterinary Medicine Experience, Oncology preferred. Knowledge of basic animal care and nursing. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, basic principles of oncology, chemotherapy drugs, and drug administration. Knowledge of oncology-specific equipment (e.g., biosafety cabinet/hood, closed system) along with their clinical application. Communicates with clients efficiently and effectively about topics relevant to oncology, including but not limited to: Chemotherapy side effects and management. Expectations for patients undergoing treatment. Accurate communication of doctor's recommendations. Familiar with various chemotherapy administration setups and the safe preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic agents using a negative pressure hood and appropriate PPE. Understands chemotherapeutic risks, symptoms of toxicity, and extravasation. Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable providing feedback to and seeking clarification from coworkers, including doctors and management. Detail-oriented and able to provide exceptional customer service and professional client communication. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. CVT preferred but not required.
Duties:
Interact professionally in person, through email, and telephone communications with clients and industry professionals. Provide coaching and training to teammates. Responsibly document procedures, medications, and hospitalization instructions for multiple departments. Manage Oncology Department flow for multiple cases. Administer medications and treatments per DVM instruction, documenting all steps within PM software. Respond quickly and calmly to crises while maintaining a high standard of client care. Maintain concise communication with team members to facilitate excellent patient care. Delegate tasks while providing safe anesthesia and sedation for various surgical and emergency procedures. Demonstrate patience and compassion to pets, clients, and team members, regardless of the situation or challenges presented.
