Are you passionate about animal care and ready to make a difference every day? Animal Care of Hobe Sound is looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll provide hands-on patient care, assist doctors during exams and surgeries, educate clients, and help keep our hospital running smoothly. Every day brings variety — from wellness visits to emergencies — in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Deliver compassionate nursing care to patients including monitoring, treatments, and medication administration
  • Assist with surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring, and post-op recovery
  • Perform technical tasks: venipuncture, radiographs, lab work, EKGs, and sample collection
  • Restrain patients safely and effectively using appropriate techniques
  • Educate clients on medications, nutrition, parasite prevention, and home care
  • Maintain accurate medical records in practice management software
  • Support front-office and client interactions as needed
  • Uphold OSHA standards and aseptic protocols
  • Provide emergency and critical care support including CPR and airway management
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a veterinary technician/nurse
  • High school diploma required; Veterinary Technician Certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and common medications
  • Confident animal handling and restraint skills
  • Excellent client communication — compassionate, clear, and professional
  • Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and work both independently and as a team
  • Basic computer skills with willingness to learn new software
  • Must lift 50 lbs unassisted; able to stand for full shifts (up to 10 hours)
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Exposure to animal waste, odors, noise, and risk of bites/scratches
  • Contact with contagious diseases possible; PPE provided
  • Variable shifts including some weekends

Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
