Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Kennel Technician, where your passion for animal care and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional kennel and animal husbandry services, ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for a variety of animals. Your energetic approach and dedication will support veterinary teams in delivering top-quality pet care, fostering a positive experience for every animal that walks through our doors. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in veterinary assistance, animal handling, and kennel operations within a fast-paced, compassionate setting. Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and animal areas to promote health and hygiene. Provide daily care including feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring animals' health status. Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, or medication administration to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with basic procedures such as medication administration, animal handling, and sample collection. Observe animals closely for signs of illness or distress; document any abnormalities or concerns for veterinary review. Handle administrative tasks such as recording treatments, updating patient records, and managing kennel logs. Support front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and providing excellent customer service. Skills Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical procedures, and laboratory techniques relevant to animal care. Skilled in animal restraint techniques for dogs, cats, and other small animals; familiarity with equine handling is a plus. Experience administering medications accurately following aseptic techniques; familiarity with catheterization and anatomy is beneficial. Ability to handle animals confidently using proper restraint methods while ensuring safety for all involved. Strong understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices across various species including dogs and horses. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary teams and educate pet owners on care routines.
