Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This vital role combines hands-on animal handling, medical procedures, and client communication to ensure the highest standards of veterinary care. As a key member of our team, you will assist veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and emergency care, all while fostering a compassionate environment for our furry patients. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your veterinary skills in a fast-paced, supportive setting. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory work including blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and anesthesia monitors with precision and care. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols while monitoring patient responses during anesthesia or critical care. Support pet owners through effective communication about pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up procedures. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times. Skills Proven kennel experience with the ability to manage multiple animals in a busy environment. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy to assist in various procedures. Experience with dental terminology and assisting with dental cleanings or procedures. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices for different species including dogs, cats, and equines. Critical care experience in emergency medicine settings with skills in vascular access (IV insertion), anesthesia monitoring, and animal catheterization. Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as phlebotomy and diagnostic radiology to support comprehensive patient care. Ability to handle dogs confidently through training or experience in dog handling and animal restraint techniques. $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
