Full-Time / Salary Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a Retail Assistant Manager to support the overall operation and performance of a high-volume retail store. This position assists the Store Manager in achieving sales, expense, and profit objectives while ensuring compliance with production standards, merchandising expectations, customer service goals, mission integration, and company policies. The Retail Assistant Manager provides leadership through staff training, coaching, and operational oversight to support a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment.Key Responsibilities:
Assist in achieving store sales, expense, profit, customer transaction, and Ecommerce revenue goals while ensuring compliance with all Ecommerce shipping, recycling, and salvage procedures. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment by enforcing Kaizen principles, PPE requirements, safety procedures, equipment standards, and completing incident reports, facility inspections, and safety meetings. Support customer and donor relations by ensuring staff provide excellent service, resolve guest concerns, and educate the public about Goodwill programs and mission services. Assist with merchandise production and sales floor operations, including sorting, grading, hanging, pricing, rotating, merchandising, displaying, and signing merchandise according to established standards and pricing guidelines. Prepare accurate reports, complete required documentation, perform bank deposits, conduct inspections, monitor expenses, and ensure compliance with loss prevention policies and organizational requirements. Assist with the physical operation and maintenance of the store by maintaining cleanliness, submitting maintenance requests, and overseeing store operations during the Store Manager's absence. Support recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management activities to ensure employees meet production, customer service, pricing, quality control, and merchandising standards. Conduct staff meetings, one-on-one discussions, and training sessions to improve employee knowledge, motivation, communication, and performance. Ensure compliance with all company, store, and employee policies and procedures. Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support store operations.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Two years of retail sales experience required. One year of management or supervisory experience required. Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale systems, donation systems, office computers, and telephones. Ability to supervise and train staff in production, merchandising, checkout, and customer service functions. Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions while demonstrating good judgment, patience, and understanding. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read, write, speak, hear, and perform business-related mathematical calculations. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
