Competitive rate based on experience About the Position We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, works well in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills. This position supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient handling, examinations, treatments, nursing care, laboratory procedures, medical records, client education, and daily hospital operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable multitasking, taking initiative, processing laboratory samples, maintaining a clean and organized hospital, and providing exceptional service to patients, clients, and teammates. Experience with Cornerstone and bilingual language skills are a plus, but are not required. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate, low-stress care and handling for dogs and cats. Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, consultations, treatments, and outpatient procedures. Safely handle and restrain compliant dogs and cats, including large working breeds. Assist with patient intake, triage, nursing care, treatment, and discharge. Maintain accurate electronic and physical patient and client records. Transcribe veterinary observations and prepare discharge instructions and client education materials as directed. Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples and assist with medical imaging. Prepare surgical and dental areas and assist with procedures while maintaining proper aseptic and sanitation practices. Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain medical, surgical, and dental equipment and instruments. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital, including kennels, exam rooms, treatment areas, laundry, and hospital grounds. Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed. Assist client service staff with telephone calls, appointment scheduling, and client check-in/check-out. Label, package, and dispense non-controlled medications and biologics as prescribed by veterinarians. Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, teammates, vendors, and members of the public. Provide client education and promote hospital services and products when appropriate. Perform clerical, administrative, and general hospital support duties as needed. Work effectively during periods of high or fluctuating workload while maintaining patient-care standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and/or veterinary technician certification. 3-5+ years of related veterinary experience and/or training , or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to identify common dog and cat breeds. Comfortable handling and working with large working-breed dogs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Gmail, web browsers, and Windows-based applications. Ability and willingness to learn veterinary practice-management software and other technology. Ability to accurately read, write, document, and communicate medical information. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and convert between American and metric measurements. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures. Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback. Ability to communicate calmly and professionally with clients experiencing stress or grief. Cornerstone experience is a plus but not required. Bilingual skills are a plus but not required. Physical & Working Environment This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, typing, handling equipment, speaking, and hearing. The technician must be able to: Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds independently . Lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance . Safely work around animals of varying sizes and temperaments. Work around animal body fluids, including feces and urine. Work in environments with strong odors and loud animal noises. Work around medical equipment, X-ray radiation, fumes, airborne particles, and cleaning chemicals while following appropriate safety procedures. Work in varying indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat. Maintain professionalism and focus in a busy, high-volume veterinary environment.
