Job Description

Oviedo Veterinary Care and Emergency is seeking an experienced veterinary technician to work at our small animal practice located in Oviedo, FL. We are passionate about making our practice an integral part of our community by providing high-quality veterinary care for our patients, and exceptional customer service for our clients. We are looking for someone equally passionate and motivated to join our progressive, forward-thinking team. Must be self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. We offer flexible schedules including weekend and evening hours. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all areas of patient care including but not limited to:
  • proper animal restraint
  • patient triage
  • venipuncture
  • performing laboratory work i.e. fecal and cytology preparation and analysis
  • knowledge of in-house blood analyzers
  • performing digital radiographs
  • knowledge of common veterinary medications and routes of administration
  • knowledge of vaccine schedules and administration
  • knowledge of heartworm, flea/tick preventions
  • surgical nursing
  • ability to effectively communicate with clients Responsibilities will include:
  • assisting veterinarians in all routine and emergency patient care
  • treatment of patients
  • effectively maintaining and updating patient records
  • maintaining work flow
  • client communication
  • working independently and cohesively in a team environment Potential applicants should be comfortable handling critical cases and emergencies, as well as emphasize the importance of preventative care.
