As a key member of our team, you will utilize your veterinary experience and technical skills to support routine surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and assist in critical care situations.

The technician serves as a medical leader within the shelter, ensuring animals receive timely assessments, treatments, vaccinations, diagnostics, and monitoring while maintaining strict disease-control protocols and promoting a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and compassion. This position requires strong technical skills, critical thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where patient populations and priorities change daily. Duties Prepare surgical suites by sterilizing equipment, setting up surgical instruments, and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained throughout procedures Assist veterinarians during surgeries by handling instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and monitoring patient vital signs using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment Administer anesthesia under supervision, including IV insertion, vascular access, and medication administration to ensure patient safety and comfort Perform animal restraint and handling with care to facilitate smooth procedures while minimizing stress for pets and their owners Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic radiology including X-ray procedures, and analyze samples for diagnostic purposes Monitor animals during critical and intensive care situations, providing emergency medicine support as needed Assist with post-operative care, including wound management, medication administration, and animal husbandry practices to promote recovery Assist with all tech duties, including but not limited to intakes, foster appointments, emergencies and all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in surgical assistance and anesthesia management Kennel experience and animal handling skills to ensure safe restraint of diverse species including dogs and horses Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and medical equipment operation Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and documentation Experience in dental terminology and procedures is a plus for supporting oral surgeries Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, radiology diagnostics, and laboratory testing accurately Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a tangible difference in the health and well-being of animals!
