About Us :
Nassau Veterinary Specialists is a family-owned veterinary hospital seeking family-friendly staff. Our state-of-the-art facility offers Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Cardiology. We are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate veterinary care. Our overnight team plays a pivotal role in keeping hospitalized pets comfortable and monitored during the overnight hours. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Veterinary Treatment Technician to join our night team. If you have a strong technical background and a passion for helping animals in need, we'd love to meet you.
Job Description :
As an Overnight Veterinary Treatment Technician, you'll be responsible for providing essential care to patients hospitalized overnight while administering treatments and medications. Your focus will be on patient monitoring, medical treatments, and ensuring pets are comfortable and stable through the overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities :
Monitor vital signs, respiratory rates, and other health parameters for hospitalized patients. Perform diagnostic procedures including blood draws, radiographs, and lab work. Administer prescribed treatments, medications, and IV fluids to patients. Perform routine medical treatments such as bandage/ wound care, catheter placements, blood pressure measurement, intubation, and oxygen therapy. Perform advanced medical treatments such as transfusion medicine and CPR Ensure patient comfort and cleanliness (bedding, food, water). Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with clinic standards. Provide support and communication to pet owners regarding their pet's condition. Work collaboratively with the specialists and overnight veterinary team to ensure excellent patient care.
Qualifications :
Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred. Greater than 3 years previous experience in a veterinary clinic, emergency, or hospital setting is required. Familiarity with emergency protocols and critical patient care is required. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm during emergencies.
