Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Surgical Technician, where your expertise will support critical surgical procedures and animal care. In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians during surgeries, ensure the highest standards of aseptic technique, and provide compassionate animal handling. Duties Prepare surgical suites and sterilize medical equipment to maintain strict aseptic conditions. Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by handling instruments, suturing, and monitoring anesthesia. Administer medications, perform IV insertions, and manage vascular access to support patient stability. Monitor anesthesia levels using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment and adjust as needed for patient safety. Handle animals with care using proper restraint techniques, ensuring their comfort and safety before, during, and after surgery. Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), diagnostic radiology, and radiology diagnostics to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software and document all procedures accurately for compliance and continuity of care. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills to ensure optimal patient well-being. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and emergency medicine protocols. Experience with veterinary critical care, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic radiology enhances your ability to support complex cases. Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, pet grooming, and pet care to foster trust and calmness in animals. Proficient in medical equipment operation including anesthesia machines, X-ray machines, and laboratory instruments. Knowledge of veterinary anesthesia techniques such as general anesthesia and sedation management. Ability to communicate effectively with clients about pet care needs while demonstrating compassion and professionalism.
