Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists-Hoffman Estates is looking for a Relief Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency/Critical Care team. Role Responsibilities Attend hospital rounds Obtain morning diagnostics with nursing team Support the DVM and nursing team with morning updates of inpatients to owners if needed. Assist nursing team with patient treatments as needed Facilitate treatments and hospitalization of outpatient cases. Primary role with client education, performing discharges and any follow-up questions. Assist with recheck exams, diagnostics and pertinent medical history. Perform and monitor anesthetic procedures (i.e. CT scans) Monitor Inventory for critical care department and ICU Prepare estimates and review with clients if needed. Assist with any patient that is critical or becomes critical during a shift. Able to float with them to any department in the hospital. Set-up, maintain and monitor high-flow and ventilator patients. Competently calculates medical dosages/CRIs. Delegates responsibilities to appropriate team members. Point of contact for referring veterinarian/other team members if DVM is unavailable. Creates clinical record documentation, obtains patient history and vital signs. Coordinates prescription refills, emails and other communications
