Want to be an RVT who actually gets to be an RVT? At Arbor View, our veterinary nurses do far more than restrain pets, draw blood and assist doctors. We want our RVTs using their education, judgment, technical skills, and continuing to build new ones. Depending on your experience and skill level, that may mean running your own RVT appointments, managing anesthesia and diagnostics, suturing, reviewing lab results and treatment plans with clients on behalf of a veterinarian, or managing procedures from setup through recovery. And then there are the things you may not have had the opportunity to do in a typical general practice: CT image acquisition and IV contrast studies, becoming proficient in ultrasound, performing endoscopy, using fluoroscopy and working with a large exotic-animal caseload. You don't need to walk in knowing how to do all of that. We can teach you! What we do want is an RVT who wants to learn it! What can an Arbor View RVT actually do? Depending on your tier and experience, our RVTs may: Run independent veterinary nurse appointments and manage follow-up care Manage anesthesia, procedures and patient recovery Suture and perform advanced technical procedures Acquire CT studies, including patient positioning, IV contrast and image timing Acquire abdominal and cardiac ultrasound images for specialist interpretation Work with endoscopy and fluoroscopy Work with dogs, cats and a substantial exotic-animal caseload Review lab results and treatment plans with clients on behalf of our veterinarians Calculate medication doses and prepare prescriptions from DVM-approved instructions Educate clients and mentor developing team members If that list sounds exciting but also makes you think, "I've never been allowed to do some of that," you may be exactly who we're looking for. New graduate? We don't expect you to arrive as a Level 4 RVT. You'll work alongside experienced veterinary nurses who can help you develop confidence, independence and advanced clinical skills. Experienced RVT? We don't expect you to have worked with every piece of equipment we own either. Maybe you're an excellent dog-and-cat RVT but have never touched a CT scanner or worked with exotics. We care about the skills you already bring, your clinical judgment and your willingness to keep learning. And if you already bring advanced skills to the table, we want to recognize them.
