Job Description

Company Overview HART for Animals, Inc is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of saving the lives of homeless animals in Western Maryland and Garrett County. Its revenue centers, the Bredel Veterinary Clinic and the Bed 'n Bark Inn pet hotel, support and sustain the operations of the Center. The Bredel Veterinary Clinic is a full-service veterinary clinic caring for the well-being of pets in our community. In addition, the clinic provides no and low cost spay/neuter surgeries to pets in low-income households, and takes care of the needs of our adoptable animals. Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Maryland Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality veterinary care, assist with diagnostics and treatments, and ensure the well-being of our diverse animal patients. Your expertise will help create a positive experience for pets and their owners while supporting our mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive veterinary services. Responsibilities Triage patients as they are checked in. Report health concerns to attending veterinarian. Provide excellent patient care. Assist veterinarians in surgery as needed. Calculate and administer anesthesia to all surgical patients in accordance with the anesthetic protocol. Maintain all necessary drug logs and patient records as directed by the veterinarian. Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocol as directed by veterinarian. Administer animal vaccinations, tests, medications and treatments as directed by veterinarian. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Maryland. Prior veterinary technician experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy. Kennel experience and familiarity with animal husbandry practices are highly desirable. Experience in veterinary critical care settings and laboratory procedures is preferred. Ability to handle dogs and other animals confidently using proper restraint methods. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on animal care topics such as dental health or pet grooming.
