Job Description
Lane Animal Hospital is hoping to expand our team of Licensed Veterinary Technicians as we recently added 2 more DVMs to our team! Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians are one of the keys to our client-patient focus, working side by side with our doctors on patient care and treatment, heading up our surgery teams, triaging sick and injured pets, while also seeing their own specific appointments. - We have been privately owned since we were established as a hospital in 1905, 3 generations in the Lane family ago! We have a team of dedicated doctors on staff who work together as a team along with our stellar support group of front desk, VA's, TA's, LVT's and managers.

Most of our Full-Time staff work 4 days a week, occasionally 5 depending on monthly staff meeting weeks and Saturdays. Saturdays are required for Full-Time employees and are rotating, every other. Our Part-Time staffs hours and typical shifts are discussed during the interview process (some of our staff work as few as 1-2 shifts a week, some work almost Full-Time but have other obligations with kids, school, etc). We are closed most major holidays as well! We are open Monday 7am-5pm, Tuesday-Thursday 7am-7pm, Fridays 7am-5pm, and Saturdays 7am-1pm. What are looking for in a candidate:- High School graduate ( required )
- Experience (1 year minimum) in a veterinary practice ( required ).
- Veterinary Technician program graduate with either an Associate or Bachelor degree ( required ).
- A current License as a Veterinary Technician in the State of Michigan ( required ).

- Strong professional development skills: able to complete continue education in the field of veterinary medicine concurrently with job description.
- Strong sense of integrity: able to maintain highest ethical standards, personal responsibility and accountability and confidentiality of clients, doctors, and all staff.
- Strong analytical thinking skills: ability to use objective data to solve problems/create solutions.
- Understanding all aspects of preventative medicine including examination, laboratory testing, vaccinations, and disease complexes.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure while maintaining composure.
- Use safe restraining techniques (most of our team is Fear Free trained), follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Surgery induction, monitoring, and recovery experience a plus.
- A desire to work with a varied case load that includes managing our reference laboratory, in house labs, and our online pharmacy, outpatient technician visits, urgent care visits with our doctors, getting accurate and thorough patient histories, reviewing treatment plans with clients, caring for hospitalized patients, filling prescriptions, and educating clients on preventative pet care and medication administration.
