Job Description
Eighth Street Veterinary is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team and provide dedicated support for surgery, anesthesia, and dental procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who wants to fully utilize their skillset with autonomy, trust, and support in a fast-paced, collaborative general practice environment. From induction through recovery, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, high-quality patient care alongside a veterinary team that values skilled technicians. In this position, you will take an active role in: Coordinating surgical and dental procedure schedules Calculating and preparing anesthetic medications and drug dosages Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia patients Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography Monitoring patient recovery and ongoing procedural care Guiding clients through patient admission and discharge with confidence and compassion Schedule and compensation:
Compensation:
$20-25 per hour, for each hour worked This is a full-time position, with a 4-10s schedule and availability needed Tuesday-Friday. We are also open to part-time scheduling. Full-time Benefits Package- : Bonus package: $2,000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of Michigan CE allowance: $500-$1,000 based on tenure and credentials Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance and disability Employee Assistance Program 401k with company match Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law Personal pet discount Uniform allowance Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law Minimum qualifications and skill set: 5+ years of veterinary technician experience Active and good-standing Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Michigan •Proficiency in the following skills: Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery Surgical assistance and aseptic technique Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement Medication administration and accurate drug calculations Client education and communication Effective teamwork and professional communication skills •Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply.
