This is an ideal position for a highly motivated, hard-working team player. Our Advanced Surgical Practice is designed to meet the demands from our clientele that seek specialized orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries performed by veterinary surgeons. Currently, we are staffed with a board-certified veterinary surgeon (DACVS) and an experienced surgical support team.
JOB DETAILS
Full-time, non-exempt (hourly), benefits-eligible (a part-time position may also be considered) Typical schedule: 4, 10-hour days
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides support for the Advanced Surgical Practice, including:
Surgery Days:
Assisting with the admission of surgical patients. Obtaining laboratory samples, running lab work, and placing IV catheters. Obtaining pre- and post-operative radiographs. Assisting anesthesia technicians as necessary during surgical procedures Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthetic patients and completing detailed records. Preparing the operating room and instrumentation before and between procedures. Scrubbing in to assist the surgeon with certain surgical procedures Recovering and monitoring patients post-operatively. Preparing patients for discharge. Filling necessary medications and reviewing home care instructions with clients. Communicating clearly and concisely with the surgical team and maintaining clear and consistent medical records.
Appointment Days:
Obtaining patient histories and entering information into the medical record. Providing assistance to the surgeon during consultations and rechecks. Performing necessary diagnostic tests. Filling necessary medications and reviewing home care instructions with clients. Performing follow-up client calls and scheduling appointments and surgery.
QUALIFICATIONS
CVT certification 2-3 years veterinary technician experience preferred Experience running anesthesia for veterinary surgical cases Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
