Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring the comfort and safety of pets during examinations and treatments. Collect medical samples such as blood, urine, or tissue for laboratory testing, maintaining proper labeling and documentation in compliance with veterinary standards. Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring animal behavior to promote optimal animal husbandry. Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary software while supporting administrative tasks such as updating client information and scheduling appointments. Support laboratory procedures by preparing samples, running tests, and recording results accurately for veterinarian review. Handle client communication professionally at the front desk, providing pet care advice and scheduling follow-up appointments while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Requirements Proven experience in veterinary clinics or animal hospitals with knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical-surgical procedures. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equines; experience with dog training or pet grooming is a plus. Familiarity with veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for record keeping and communication. Knowledge of drug enforcement regulations (DEA), USDA regulations, and clinic safety protocols to ensure compliance during medical procedures. Hands-on experience with animal catheterization, aseptic technique, laboratory testing, and critical care support for animals in need of urgent attention. Ability to perform animal anatomy assessments accurately and apply veterinary critical care techniques confidently. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration; customer service experience is highly valued.
