Job Description

Cross Creek Animal Hospital Boarding is more than a traditional boarding facility. We provide boarding, daycare, bathing services, and veterinary support in a facility directly connected to our animal hospital. This allows our boarding patients to have convenient access to veterinary care while they stay with us. We are looking for a Veterinary Boarding & Patient Care Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who loves working with animals but also enjoys the medical, organizational, and client-service side of veterinary care. Our team is responsible for the care of boarding and daycare pets from check-in through check-out, while also coordinating veterinary services for patients who need medical attention during their stay. What You'll Do Boarding, Daycare & Animal Care Provide compassionate, attentive care to boarding and daycare dogs throughout their stay. Feed, exercise, medicate, and monitor pets according to their individual care instructions. Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments. Monitor pets for changes in appetite, behavior, energy level, or overall condition and communicate concerns promptly. Provide bathing services and prepare pets for pickup when requested. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and sanitary boarding environment. Clean kennels and boarding areas, wash dishes, complete laundry, disinfect surfaces, and perform other routine cleaning duties. Ensure pets receive individualized care and that their owners' instructions are followed accurately. Veterinary Patient Coordination & Support Because our boarding facility is directly connected to our animal hospital, boarding patients may receive veterinary services during their stay. Our boarding team plays an important role in preparing and coordinating these services. Identify and communicate veterinary needs for boarding patients based on owner requests, medical history, veterinarian recommendations, and services due. Communicate with owners regarding recommended or due services using appropriate veterinary terminology and professional communication. Obtain and document complete medical and boarding histories for patients requiring veterinary examinations or treatment. Prepare patients for scheduled veterinary services and coordinate their movement between the boarding facility and hospital. Review what services are scheduled or requested and make sure the appropriate preparation has been completed before the patient goes to the veterinary team. Collect and properly prepare requested fecal and urine samples when needed. Prepare patients for services by ensuring required information is available for the veterinary team whenever appropriate. Communicate directly with veterinary technicians and hospital staff regarding boarding patients scheduled for examinations, diagnostics, vaccinations, treatments, or other services. Monitor patients after veterinary services and communicate any concerns or changes to the appropriate hospital team member. Help provide a seamless transition between boarding care and veterinary care. Client Service & Front Desk Responsibilities This position also plays an important role in the client experience. Check in and check out boarding, daycare, and grooming clients . Answer phones and assist clients with questions regarding boarding, daycare, grooming, and veterinary-related services. Schedule and manage boarding reservations and appointments. Obtain required client and pet information and ensure records are complete and accurate. Explain boarding requirements and communicate services that are due or recommended for pets staying with us. Process boarding payments and deposits. Process client payments and assist with other front-desk transactions. Communicate professionally with pet owners regarding their pets' care, needs, schedules, and services. Coordinate with receptionists, veterinary technicians, veterinarians, groomers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely patient care. Attention to detail, communication skills, veterinary terminology, and the ability to understand and follow medical instructions are important parts of the job. We're Looking For Someone Who Has a genuine passion for animals and their well-being. Enjoys working with dogs and is comfortable safely handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments. Is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and motivated. Has excellent communication and customer-service skills. Is comfortable speaking with pet owners about their pets' care and veterinary needs. Can learn and appropriately use common veterinary terminology. Is comfortable working alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians, receptionists, groomers, and boarding staff. Can follow medical instructions accurately and recognize when a concern needs to be communicated to the veterinary team. Is able to multitask in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day. Takes pride in maintaining accurate records and completing tasks thoroughly. Is comfortable answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking clients in and out, and handling payments and deposits. Can safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of boarding and animal care work. Previous veterinary, veterinary assistant, kennel, boarding, daycare or animal-care experience is
