Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to support our large non-profit organization committed to animal welfare. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and critical care, with a passion for improving the lives of animals through compassionate care and technical expertise. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, ensuring the well-being of animals, and maintaining a safe and efficient clinical environment. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse species, including large animals such as horses, in a dynamic and mission-driven setting. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing animals and equipment. Perform animal restraint and handling using humane techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory tests, including sample collection and analysis, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. Maintain detailed medical records, documenting treatments, procedures, and observations in accordance with organizational standards. Support animal husbandry activities such as feeding, grooming, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring overall health status. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary instructions while adhering to aseptic techniques. Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and assist with radiographic procedures for accurate imaging. Requirements Proven experience working as a veterinary technician or in a veterinary support role within a non-profit or clinical environment. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices. Experience with kennel management, dog handling skills, and dog training techniques. Hands-on experience with laboratory testing procedures and laboratory equipment operation. Ability to perform animal restraint Strong understanding of aseptic techniques necessary for surgical preparation and infection control. Excellent animal handling skills combined with compassionate communication abilities for working with diverse populations of animals and clients.
