The Animal Emergency and Specialty Center in Reno, Nevada, is currently hiring a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our rehabilitation facility staff. Our rehab team focuses on restoring physical function, range of motion, and movement in animals. We work directly with our board-certified surgeon and her team to assist in post-operative care for patients who have undergone major surgeries. Additionally, our team collaborates with local veterinarians and provides rehabilitation services for referring practices. As a licensed rehabilitation veterinary technician, you will specifically focus on assisting with the rehabilitation and recovery of animals who have experienced injuries, illnesses, and surgeries. You will work closely with veterinarians and the rehab therapist to help animals regain strength, mobility, and independence. Job responsibilities as a licensed veterinary technician in our rehab facility include:
- Implementing treatments and exercises as directed by the rehab therapist/animal physical therapist (APT) based on their evaluation and treatment plan.
- Collecting and documenting patient weight and TPR
- Documenting all patient treatment notes and submitting to the referring DVM within 5 business days
- Demonstrating proper body mechanics and patient handling techniques while using exercise, stretching, massage, and other modalities to help animals regain strength, mobility, and function
- Assisting with underwater treadmill therapy, laser therapy, and other rehab modalities based on licensure and scope of practice as directed by the rehab therapist/APT
- Maximize safety for patients and clinicians with proper restraint techniques
- Monitoring and communicating patient progress, any patient needs or changes in the patient's condition to the rehab therapist/APT, and implementing those changes under the direction of the rehab therapist/APT.
- Educating and motivating pet owners on how to continue patient rehabilitation plans at home.
- Providing hands-on support, guidance, and encouragement to patients and owners during rehabilitation sessions.

Compensation:
$ 28/hour based on skill and experience level.
