Monday - Friday, Daytime Hours (No weekends, no on-call) Overview Lake Immunogenics, Inc. is a USDA-licensed, AAALAC-accredited animal biologics manufacturing facility set on 155 acres in Ontario, NY. We maintain resident donor herds (draft horses, steer, llamas, and goats) producing critical plasma therapies and specialty biologicals. We are seeking a Veterinary Technician / Biologics Specialist to perform automated plasma collection (plasmapheresis) operations and assist in resident herd health management. While a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) is strongly preferred, we welcome experienced veterinary assistants, research animal specialists (LAT/LATG), human phlebotomists, or biological science graduates who have demonstrated hands-on clinical, laboratory, or large-animal medical handling experience . Note:

Prior automated plasmapheresis experience is NOT required—we provide complete, hands-on training on our automated collection systems. However, candidates must bring established venipuncture aptitude and an understanding of biological/aseptic concepts.)

Key Responsibilities Automated Plasma Collection (~80% of time): Perform precision, aseptic jugular venipuncture on large animals (primarily draft horses and livestock). Set up, operate, monitor, and clean automated plasmapheresis instruments and harness assemblies. Maintain meticulous, real-time batch production records compliant with USDA and FDA regulations. Monitor animal vitals and donor well-being throughout the collection procedure. Prepare, label and transfer bulk plasma units into controlled cold-chain storage Herd Health & Facility Stewardship (~20% with opportunity for growth): Administer routine vaccinations, dewormers, and preventive treatments under the direction of our Attending Veterinarian. Handle weekday turnouts, evaluate herd behavior, monitor body condition scores, and assist with nutritional feeding programs during normal work hours. Support general paddock, barn, and facility maintenance to uphold AAALAC-accredited standards.

Qualifications Education & Background:

NYS Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) strongly preferred; OR Associate/Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Biology, Pre-Vet, or related life science discipline; OR Demonstrated professional experience (2+ years) as an advanced veterinary assistant, research animal technician (ALAT/LAT), or medical phlebotomist. Candidates must have foundational education or professional experience in biological sciences, veterinary medicine, or clinical laboratory procedures. This is not an entry-level farm hand role.

Technical Skills:

Confident large-animal handling skills (comfort working hands-on with draft horses, cattle, or livestock is essential). Direct experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, or fluid administration (large animal, small animal, or human). Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and sanitary/aseptic technique.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

Comfort working in all Upstate New York outdoor weather conditions as well as an indoor clean collection suite. Ability to lift 50 lbs (feed bags, collection harnesses, equipment). Valid NYS Driver's License and reliable transportation.
