Primary Responsibilities :
Client communication for intakes, discharges, and client education. Setting up, maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness of the surgical suite and prep area. Including machines, monitors and equipment.
Patient care including:
surgical prep, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement, management of CRIs and fluid therapy, administering intravenous and intramuscular injections and administering topical or oral medications as directed by the attending doctor. Calculating drug dosages, fill medications per doctor directions. Dental cleanings and full-mouth digital radiographs. Collecting and processing biological samples for in house labs and reference labs. Technician appointments (blood draws, vaccinations, cold laser therapy etc.) Routine diagnostics: digital radiographs, urinalysis, PCV, ear cytology, etc... Supporting doctors with ultrasounds.
Qualifications :
Current New York State License for Veterinary Technology is required. AAS in Veterinary Technology (minimum requirement) Compassion and genuine appreciation for creatures of all shapes and sizes. Proficiency in anesthesia, and patient care is a must. Strong, efficient communicator and team player. Ability to lift 40 lbs and handle a variety of species. Basic computer skills, including typing. Experience with exotics is a plus but not required, we are happy to train if you are interested to learn!
Schedule :
The hospital is open Monday - Saturday with surgical appointments offered Monday - Thursday. All inquiries are kept strictly confidential.
