Veterinary Technician

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care, veterinary procedures, and clinical support, with a passion for providing exceptional pet care and client service. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, patient management, and laboratory diagnostics, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and safety are maintained throughout all clinical activities. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments and diagnostics. Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, sample collection, and processing to support diagnostic testing. Operate medical equipment such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers with competence. Administer medications, injections (IV insertion), and fluids accurately while monitoring animal responses during anesthesia and critical care procedures. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, scaling, and oral examinations. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, ensuring accurate documentation of patient history, treatments, and laboratory results. Provide pet grooming, dog training, or pet care as needed to enhance client satisfaction and animal well-being. Assist in emergency medicine situations by providing critical care support including vascular access, anesthesia monitoring, and patient stabilization. Ensure cleanliness of the clinical environment by following strict aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of equipment. Requirements Prior experience working in a veterinary setting with proficiency in animal husbandry and handling diverse species including dogs, cats, and equines. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and surgical procedures. Hands-on experience with veterinary anesthesia administration and monitoring (general anesthesia) along with emergency medicine protocols. Familiarity with diagnostic radiology procedures such as X-ray imaging and radiology diagnostics. Competence in laboratory techniques including phlebotomy, sample analysis, and veterinary laboratory work. Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and veterinary critical & intensive care practices. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique. Excellent communication skills for client interaction regarding pet care instructions and treatment plans. Certification or training in veterinary technician programs is preferred; relevant veterinary technician experience is highly valued. $23.00 - $33.00 per hour
