Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients, as well as assisting pet owners with their needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care, veterinary practices, and excellent communication skills. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays. Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal patients during procedures and recovery. Provide proper animal restraint and handling techniques for safe examinations. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment. Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures. Participate in kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and exercising animals. Skills Candidates should possess a combination of required and desirable skills to excel in this role: Veterinary technician experience with a solid understanding of veterinary terminology. Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in diagnostics and treatment. Experience with animal handling, including dog handling and restraint techniques. Familiarity with dental terminology related to veterinary practices. Background in laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine. Experience in veterinary critical care is a plus for emergency situations. Understanding of animal husbandry principles for optimal care of various species. Equine experience is beneficial for those working with horses or large animals. Skills in pet grooming and dog training can enhance client services.
