Duties Provide compassionate care for laboratory animals, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and monitoring health status Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as cage cleaning, bedding changes, and record keeping of animal conditions Support veterinary staff during procedures including IV insertions, catheterizations, medication administration, and surgical assistance Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure both animal welfare and staff safety Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, behavior observations, and environmental conditions Ensure compliance with safety protocols by correctly using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all laboratory safety guidelines Support facility cleanliness through routine sanitation of cages, equipment, and work areas to uphold high standards of hygiene and biosecurity Assist with client communication by providing pet care information and updates on animal welfare when needed Experience Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience with dogs, cats, or equine animals highly valued Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience is a strong plus; familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures is beneficial Hands-on experience with surgery support, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization and restraint techniques required Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to ensure proper care and handling practices Experience in record keeping related to animal health and behavior management preferred Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients about animal needs and welfare issues Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare standards and safety protocols in a clinical or laboratory setting This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their expertise in veterinary medicine or laboratory animal science.
