Job Description

Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, a leading specialty and 24/7 emergency hospital in Norristown, PA, seeks a Lead Veterinary Technician to guide a skilled technical team. In this fast-paced, collaborative role, you'll support board-certified specialists, perform advanced triage, anesthesia, surgery, and critical nursing care, and help train and mentor technicians. You'll work with state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments while ensuring compassionate client communication and exceptional patient care in a culture focused on learning and well-being. Responsibilities Lead and mentor veterinary technicians during emergency and specialty cases Perform advanced patient triage, monitoring, and nursing care for critical patients Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures, anesthesia, surgery, and imaging Administer medications, treatments, and fluid therapy according to protocols Maintain accurate medical records, patient histories, and treatment logs Operate and maintain medical equipment and ensure clean, organized treatment areas Support client communication, education, and discharge instructions with compassion Help train new technicians and support staff, promoting best practices and safety Required Skills Veterinary anesthesia monitoring Emergency and critical care nursing Surgical assisting and instrumentation Diagnostic imaging (radiography/ultrasound support) Venipuncture and IV catheter placement Medication and fluid administration Laboratory sample collection and in-house testing Electronic medical record documentation Team leadership and staff training Infection control and hospital safety protocols
