Blue Oasis Pet Hospital has a leveling program for all technicians at any level and you can decided how far up you would like to go.

Vet tech skills include:

Taking histories Talking to pet owners about their pet's condition Preparing and taking care of equipment and supplies Taking vital signs, including blood pressure Collecting samples and completing laboratory tests Administering vaccinations and medications Dressing wounds Diagnostic imaging positioning and basic ultrasound skills Administering injectable and general anesthesia Keeping the exam rooms clean Updating patient records Performing therapeutic laser treatments Administering treatments and care for hospitalized patients

Customer Service:

Vet techs need to be able to work with pet owners to ensure that owners understand how to care for their pets after returning home. Vet techs should cultivate positive relationships with their clients so that pet owners will be more likely to trust the vet tech's care recommendations.

Empathy:

Having empathy for the pets you care for can help you provide better care, but having empathy for the pet owners is just as important. People come to think of their pets as part of the family, and they can get just as upset when something is wrong with their pets as they do when something happens to a spouse or child.

Compassion:

Vet techs will need to be compassionate and understanding with pet owners.

Communication:

Vet techs need to be able to communicate with other veterinary staff and with pet owners. Licensed Veterinary Technician will be considered over other candidates Cornerstone Practice Management system experience preferred but not required.
