This energetic role offers the opportunity to work during overnight shifts on weekends, providing essential support in intensive care settings. You will be at the forefront of life-saving procedures, ensuring animals receive the highest quality of veterinary care through skilled technical assistance and compassionate handling. Duties Assist veterinary staff with critical care procedures, including anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and patient stabilization during overnight shifts Perform vascular access procedures such as IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate treatment and fluid therapy Operate medical equipment including radiology devices, laboratory analyzers, and diagnostic imaging tools like X-ray machines and radiology diagnostics Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, with a focus on dog handling, animal husbandry, and understanding animal physiology and anatomy Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), veterinary laboratory tests, and diagnostic radiology procedures to support accurate diagnosis Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical assistance and invasive procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and updates on their animals' conditions while maintaining professionalism and empathy Requirements Proven veterinary technician experience or equivalent veterinary critical care background with familiarity in emergency medicine and intensive care protocols Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures including anesthesia monitoring and general anesthesia management Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, X-ray operation, and laboratory diagnostics Skilled in animal restraint, handling diverse species including dogs and other small animals with confidence and compassion Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration during overnight shifts Certification or experience in veterinary anesthesia monitoring, laboratory work, or emergency veterinary medicine is highly desirable This role offers a rewarding opportunity for dedicated veterinary professionals eager to provide exceptional critical care during overnight hours.
