Duties Assist veterinarians with a wide range of medical procedures, including surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostic imaging such as radiology and X-ray procedures. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence across various species, including dogs, cats, equine patients, and small mammals. Conduct laboratory work such as blood draws (phlebotomy), sample preparation, and analysis to support diagnostic testing. Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning, medication administration, and maintaining overall animal comfort and safety. Operate medical equipment efficiently—such as anesthesia machines, radiology equipment, laboratory analyzers—and ensure proper aseptic techniques are followed. Maintain accurate veterinary records using veterinary software systems; document procedures, treatments, and client communications clearly. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care interventions like vascular access (IV insertion), medication administration, and patient monitoring during intensive care situations. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing dental cleanings or related treatments. Handle client communication professionally—explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing pet care advice with compassion. Requirements Proven experience working as a veterinary technician or senior veterinary technician in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and medical procedures. Demonstrated proficiency in animal handling across different species with excellent restraint skills. Experience with laboratory diagnostics, radiology diagnostics (X-ray), anesthesia monitoring (general anesthesia), and critical care procedures. Ability to perform IV insertions, venous catheterizations, phlebotomy, and animal catheterization confidently. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record-keeping and appointment management. Excellent communication skills for effective client interactions and team collaboration. Knowledge of pet care best practices including pet handling during emergencies or routine visits. Ability to work independently while supporting the team's overall goals in animal health and safety.
