• Minimum Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent and one year of laboratory animal experience.

• Job Summary:

• To provide for the skilled care of laboratory animals in a humane, safe and sanitary manner using appropriate equipment and established procedures.

• Job Duties:

• + Feeds and waters animals as specified.

+ Performs daily census of animals. + Changes animal caging as scheduled sanitizes rooms, equipment and hallways as assigned. + Assists in the maintenance of animal records. + Observes animals for behavior change and/or evidence of disease and notifies staff as appropriate. + Provides routine treatment for common disease problems and performs animal identification tasks using established methods. + Assists in the operation of and the record keeping for breeding colonies. + Attends in-house training programs to become more knowledgeable in the field of laboratory animal science.

• Marginal or Periodic Functions:

• + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. + Performs related duties as required
• Working Environment/Equipment
• Support equipment used in a laboratory animal science multi-species facility and standard office equipment. Standard animal resources environment. Must not be allergic to animal dander or have immunodeficiency diseases. Pregnancy may become a personal safety factor in some laboratory animal science duties. Potential exposure to radiation and biohazards.
