Job Description

Patriot Animal Hospital is a family-owned and operated small animal veterinary practice in Georgetown, Texas with absolutely no corporate ownership or interest in the practice. At Patriot Animal Hospital we focus all of our attention and resources on providing the highest quality veterinary care exclusively to dogs and cats. No boarding, grooming or training as an additional service is offered at out practice. We are looking for compassionate, friendly and skilled professionals who want to make a positive impact on the families in the community. We are currently seeking a veterinary technician who is focused on fully utilizing their technical skills, nursing care and teamwork to provide compassionate care to our patients and exceptional customer service to our clients. The veterinary technician is the veterinarian's primary medical support. They aid the veterinarian in achieving greater efficiency by performing technical work and administrative details. The veterinary technician has a significant role in communicating with and educating clients about the health of their beloved pets.
Duties:
  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and treatments
  • Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians
  • Take X-rays
  • Prepare animals for surgery and monitor their anesthesia during procedures
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate medical records
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant
  • Knowledge of pet care, veterinary medicine, and animal behavior
  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures such as drawing blood, preparing sample to be tested and operating blood analyzing machines
  • Ability to operate X-ray equipment
  • Experience in assisting in surgeries and monitoring anesthetized patients during procedures is desired but not required
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate pet owners effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle animals with care and compassion, including proper restraint techniques
