Overnight ER/ICU Veterinary Technician Overview:

Mountain West Veterinary Specialists - Bluffdale location is looking for a full-time Overnight Veterinary Technician (7:00 PM-8:00 AM) to join our team. We are a rapidly growing, independently and locally owned hospital offering specialty and emergency veterinary services. We are currently offering a 25% hourly stipend for all weekend hours and hours worked between 6:00 PM and 8:00 AM! We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. In this fast-paced role, you will provide critical support to veterinarians during emergency procedures, ensure the well-being of patients, and communicate effectively with pet owners during high-stress situations. This position requires a strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and deliver exceptional patient care in an emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Triage incoming patients to determine the urgency of their conditions. Monitor and assess patient vital signs, providing stabilization and immediate care as directed. Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Assist with diagnostic procedures, including radiology, ultrasonography, and laboratory testing. Prepare and maintain equipment and treatment areas for emergency procedures. Assist veterinarians during surgeries and critical interventions, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and readily available. Collect samples for laboratory testing, including blood draws and cytology samples. Place IV catheters, perform wound care, and assist with resuscitation efforts when necessary. Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care throughout the duration of each shift. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other members of the hospital team.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with prior emergency or critical care experience preferred. Proficiency in handling and restraining animals, as well as operating diagnostic, anesthetic, and monitoring equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining a professional work environment.

Fast-paced, high-pressure environment with exposure to emergency and critical care situations. Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as emergencies occur 24/7.

Schedule:

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 7:00 PM-8:00 AM 25% hourly stipend for all hours worked between 6:00 PM and 8:00 AM. 25% hourly stipend for weekend hours.
