Job Description

Wanted:

Veterinary Surgery Technician -

Because Superheroes Wear Scrubs Location:
Sugar House Veterinary Hospital, Salt Lake City Employment Type:

Full-time Are you a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Surgery Technician who can monitor anesthesia, comfort nervous pets, educate pet parents, and still laugh when a Labrador suddenly forgets how to walk? If so, we'd love to meet you. We're looking for a dedicated team member who is passionate about high-quality patient care, teamwork, and creating a positive experience for every pet and person who walks through our doors. About Us We're a busy, friendly, slightly chaotic veterinary hospital where every day is different, coffee is practically a food group, and "cat wrangler" is absolutely a résumé-worthy skill. We believe in excellent medicine, strong teamwork, compassionate client education, and laughing through the occasional goat-in-the-waiting-room moment. What You'll Do Assist veterinarians during exams, surgeries, dentistry, and procedures; bonus points if you can do it while being stared down by a suspicious cat. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians. Monitor anesthesia and patient recovery like the calm, capable pro you are. Perform laboratory testing, including CBCs, blood chemistry, urinalysis, and cytology. Take diagnostic quality radiographs and assist with ultrasound procedures. Educate pet parents on preventive care, post-surgical care, treatment plans, and chronic illness management, ideally with fewer hand gestures than necessary, but we support your process. Maintain accurate medical records, drug logs, discharge instructions, and follow-up reminders, even when the handwriting looks like it came from a caffeinated squirrel. Clean, maintain, and organize equipment, instruments, and treatment areas so the clinic stays safe, efficient, and welcoming. What We're Looking For Current working experience as a Veterinary Surgery Technician required; credentialed technicians are encouraged to apply. Strong knowledge of animal handling, animal husbandry, and Fear Free techniques. Proficiency with laboratory procedures and IDEXX equipment operation. Ability to safely handle dogs and cats of all sizes, personalities, opinions, and dramatic flair. Excellent communication skills with humans and animals, bonus if you speak fluent "meow," "woof," or blank stares. A calm demeanor under pressure, especially when the pressure is a Great Dane sitting in your lap. A sense of humor, because some days laughter really is the best medicine.

Why You'll Love Working Here Unlimited Cuddles Package:

Daily access to puppies, kittens, and the most amazing senior pets.

Drama-Free Workplace:

Unless you count the cat who just realized the thermometer is not a treat.

Free Gym Membership:

Also known as team lifting a 120-pound Mastiff who refuses to walk onto the scale.

Fashion Forward:

Rock scrubs with mysterious stains that double as conversation starters.

Adrenaline Rushes Included:

One minute you're trimming nails, the next you're giving activated charcoal to a naughty Frenchie.
