The applicant must have a positive attitude and work well with others. Full time employees will also receive paid time off and annual CE allowance. Applicants must have a valid license to practice in Virginia. Minimum of 1 year experience in general practice. Experience with Shepherd software and idexx lab machines is a plus, but not required. Salary is based on experience. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs and weights as well as providing client education. Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs. Provide nursing care for in-hospital patients. Induce anesthesia and intubate, monitor anesthesia, prepare patients for surgery, and keep thorough surgery logs and anesthesia sheets. Assist veterinarians in surgical and medical procedures, including dentistry. Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters and administer IV fluids according to the veterinarian's orders. Perform cystocentesis and be familiar with the management of urinary catheters. Be skilled in applying a variety of bandages. Take radiographs utilizing proper positioning and exposure. Utilize proper animal handling and restraint. Clean and maintain work areas.
