Job Description

We're helping a well-established, privately owned veterinary hospital in Richmond, VA find an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their team. The practice has 4 veterinarians and 2 veterinary assistants , and the team focuses on providing high-quality medicine while maintaining a supportive work environment. The current opening is especially interesting for someone who wants to be part of a stable team. The previous veterinary technician has been with the practice for 25 years , so this is an opportunity to step into a well-established role rather than a constantly changing environment. What You'll Be Doing As the Licensed Veterinary Technician, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day care of patients, including: Providing small animal patient care with a focus on preventive medicine Monitoring anesthesia and patient safety Placing IV catheters Performing dental prophylaxis Assisting with surgical procedures Performing venipuncture and laboratory procedures Assisting with triage and patient assessments Taking and assisting with X-rays/radiographs Supporting internal medicine cases Administering medications Assisting with patient discharge and client communication Helping maintain a high standard of patient care throughout the hospital The hospital performs surgery regularly, with procedures scheduled in the mornings, so you'll have the opportunity to stay involved in hands-on clinical work.
What They're Looking For Required:
Current Registered or Certified Veterinary Technician / Licensed Veterinary Technician credentials as applicable Experience in a small animal veterinary setting Strong skills with venipuncture and IV catheter placement Experience with anesthesia monitoring Laboratory and diagnostic experience Ability to assist with surgery Experience with triage and radiographs Strong communication and attention to detail A team-oriented attitude Nice to have: Emergency or critical care experience Experience with advanced surgical procedures Experience with digital radiography Experience with dental radiography Schedule The hospital is looking for someone who values a predictable schedule. No weekends. No nights. The practice is also open to a 4-day workweek , and 30 hours per week is considered full-time . The schedule can be flexible depending on the candidate and the needs of the hospital.
