Job Description

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Ridgetop Animal Hospital | Silverdale, WA | Full-Time Ready to actually use your technician skills? Ridgetop Animal Hospital is looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our growing team in Silverdale, Washington. We are a busy, progressive, small-animal hospital that blends high-quality general practice with same-day urgent care, advanced surgery, dentistry, and a diverse medical caseload . We take pride in practicing excellent medicine while creating an environment where our team members are encouraged to learn, grow, speak up, and use the skills they worked hard to develop. For an LVT who enjoys variety, wants to stay challenged, and is looking for a hospital where technicians play an important role in patient care, Ridgetop has a lot to offer. What Makes Ridgetop Different? Our team sees much more than routine wellness appointments. On any given week, our LVTs may be involved in preventative care, complex medical cases, same-day urgent care, dentistry, anesthesia, hospitalized patient care, and advanced surgical procedures. Our surgical caseload includes procedures such as TPLO, lateral sutures, MPL repair, fracture repair, TECA, cystotomy, splenectomy, gastrointestinal surgery, PU, FHO/DFO, amputations, and more. We also continue to invest in our hospital and the tools our team has available, including digital radiography, in-house IDEXX diagnostics, dental radiography, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and therapeutic laser technology. Most importantly, we want our LVTs to practice as LVTs. We value strong technical skills, clinical judgment, patient advocacy, teamwork, and the ability to take ownership of patient care while working collaboratively with our veterinarians and support team. ❤ Fear Free, Patient-Focused Care How we care for our patients matters just as much as the medicine we provide. Our team places a strong emphasis on Fear Free principles, thoughtful handling, patient advocacy, and recognizing when a patient needs a different approach. We want team members who are willing to slow down when needed, communicate what they are seeing, and advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of every patient. What You'll Get to Do As an LVT at Ridgetop, your responsibilities may include: Perform comprehensive anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for surgical and dental patients Perform dental prophylaxis and assist with comprehensive dental procedures Obtain diagnostic radiographs using proper positioning, technique, and radiation safety Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture Collect, prepare, process, and evaluate laboratory samples Utilize in-house diagnostic equipment and coordinate reference laboratory testing Administer medications, vaccines, treatments, and fluid therapy under veterinarian direction Triage and assist with same-day urgent and emergency cases Provide nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized patients Prepare patients and the surgical suite for procedures Assist with advanced orthopedic and soft-tissue surgeries Provide emergency nursing care, including CPR and stabilization when needed Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with the veterinary team Educate and communicate with clients regarding treatments, medications, procedures, and home care Support and mentor veterinary assistants as appropriate Advocate for Fear Free handling and individualized patient care Work closely with our veterinarians, assistants, and CSRs to keep patient care moving safely and efficiently
Who We're Looking For:
Required:
Current Washington State Veterinary Technician License Strong communication and teamwork skills Excellent attention to detail and patient safety Ability to prioritize and think critically in a fast-paced environment Confidence working independently within the scope of an LVT while knowing when to ask for support Compassionate, professional communication with clients and coworkers Commitment to continued learning and professional growth A great fit for our team is someone who: Loves veterinary medicine and still wants to keep learning Takes pride in excellent patient care Enjoys both routine medicine and challenging cases Wants to utilize their technical skills rather than simply "help where needed" Values Fear Free and low-stress patient handling Can stay calm and adaptable when the day doesn't go according to plan Communicates openly and respectfully Enjoys teaching, learning, and collaborating with others Brings a positive attitude and a sense of humor to work Experience with Avimark and IDEXX equipment is a plus, but not required. Experience in surgery, dentistry, urgent care, or advanced anesthesia is also welcome — but we are equally interested in the right LVT who is excited to continue developing those skills. Benefits This is a full-time position. Schedule will be determined based upon the needs of the hospital and will eventually include some Saturday hours. We offer competitive wages ranging from $29.00-$35.00, dependent upon experience. Benefits include, but are not limited to: Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Leave Pet Healthcare Discounts Medical Insurance Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Disability Insurance 401k Plans Uniform Allowances CE Allowances License Renewal Equal Employment Opportunity It is the policy of the company to afford equal opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, non-disqualifying disability or status as a disabled or Vietnam era veteran. We're growing, investing in new technology, expanding our capabilities, and building a team that genuinely cares about doing veterinary medicine well.
