Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care for animals in a veterinary setting. You will assist veterinarians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions, ensuring the wellbeing of pets and supporting their owners throughout the veterinary process. Duties
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
  • Provide animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety.
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques.
  • Support kennel operations, including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment for animals.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
  • Assist with pet grooming as needed to promote hygiene and comfort. Experience Ideal candidates will possess skills in the following areas:
  • Animal physiology: Understanding of animal body systems and functions.
  • Animal care: Experience in providing basic care for pets, including feeding and hygiene.
  • Dog training: Knowledge of training techniques to assist with behavioral issues.
  • Dog handling: Proficiency in safely managing dogs of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Kennel experience: Familiarity with kennel operations and animal housing.
  • Pet grooming: Skills in grooming techniques for various breeds.
  • Animal catheterization: Experience with placing IV catheters or urinary catheters.
  • Veterinary critical care: Ability to provide emergency care for critically ill animals.
  • Animal restraint: Techniques for safely restraining animals during examinations or treatments.
  • Aseptic technique: Knowledge of sterilization processes to maintain a clean environment.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician preferred but not required.
  • Candidates must be flexible and may occasionally be required to cover shifts at sister location.
