Job Description:
Advanced Air is seeking a motivated HVAC Apprentice / Helper to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a long-term career in the HVAC industry. You'll work alongside experienced technicians and installers, learning valuable hands-on skills in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for both residential and commercial customers. The ideal candidate is dependable, eager to learn, hardworking, and enjoys working with their hands in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist technicians and installers with HVAC system installations, repairs, and maintenance Help transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites Learn how to inspect, troubleshoot, and service HVAC systems Assist with installing ductwork, thermostats, condensers, furnaces, boilers, and ductless systems Maintain clean and organized work areas, vehicles, and job sites Follow company safety procedures and industry standards Support technicians during residential and commercial service calls Communicate professionally with customers and team members Assist with loading/unloading materials and organizing inventory Learn proper use of HVAC tools, testing equipment, and service procedures
Qualifications & Requirements:
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions Reliable transportation and punctual attendance Ability to follow directions and work safely Good communication and customer service skills Valid driver's license preferred HVAC trade school experience is a plus, but not required Prior construction or mechanical experience is a plus
What You Can Expect:

As an Helper, you'll play an important role in supporting our installation team while learning the trade from experienced technicians and installers. Customer Service Training - As a Nexstar member company, all Apprentices / Helpers at Advanced Air are expected to follow the Install System when running Install jobs. You'll begin learning the Install System by completing the self-study guide on your own, along with participating in weekly Install System meetings at the shop. Hands-On Training - At Advanced Air, we believe learning happens both in the field and through ongoing training. You'll work side-by-side with experienced installers, learning proper installation procedures, tool usage, safety practices, and job site organization. We're looking for individuals who are eager to learn, ask questions, and continue improving every day. Technical Growth - A good installer needs strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems in the field. No one knows everything in this trade, and there will always be new situations to learn from. The key is showing up with a positive attitude, working hard, and building your skills through training and hands-on experience. Working in the Field - You'll assist with residential and commercial HVAC installations, including carrying materials, setting equipment, helping with ductwork, running line sets, cleaning job sites, and supporting lead installers throughout the installation process. Over time, you'll gain more responsibility as your skills and experience continue to grow.
