HVAC / Refrigeration Technician Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 From $90,000 a year - Full-time From $90,000 a year - Full-time Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled HVAC / Refrigeration Technician to oversee the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative care of all HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen mechanical systems across our portfolio of properties. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, equipment reliability, guest comfort, and regulatory compliance across all locations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of independently managing multiple priorities while supporting a fast-paced hospitality and restaurant environment. Key Responsibilities HVAC & Refrigeration Systems Management Perform installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration units, walk-in coolers/freezers, ice machines, and related equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues efficiently to minimize downtime and operational disruption. Execute preventative maintenance programs for all HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple properties. Monitor equipment performance and proactively recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements. Ensure proper refrigerant handling and maintain full compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards and regulations. Facilities & Equipment Support Support repairs and preventative maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment including fryers, ovens, ventilation hoods, dish machines, and other mechanical systems. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and urgent equipment failures, including after-hours issues as needed. Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors for specialized repairs, inspections, and installations. Maintain mechanical rooms, rooftops, and service areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition. Compliance & Safety Ensure all systems comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations and operational standards. Maintain required certifications, permits, and inspection documentation. Adhere to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company safety protocols. Support emergency preparedness planning and equipment contingency strategies. Inventory & Asset Management Manage HVAC and refrigeration parts inventory to ensure proper stock levels. Source replacement parts and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance schedules, and repair documentation. Partner with leadership on capital planning for major equipment replacements and long-term maintenance strategy. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience required. Prior experience in restaurant, foodservice, or hospitality environments strongly preferred . Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, refrigeration cycles, and preventative maintenance practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Ability and willingness to travel regularly between all company properties. Mandatory Legal Requirements EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Required): Must be fully certified to service, maintain, and repair high-pressure and low-pressure appliances, including rooftop HVAC units, walk-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines. Certifications CFESA (Commercial Food Equipment Service Association) Certification , with specialization in Gas, Electric, Steam, or Refrigeration systems supporting commercial kitchen equipment. NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification. HVAC Excellence Certification or equivalent commercial refrigeration credential. State or local HVAC licensing, where applicable. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds . Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be available for evenings, weekends, and emergency on-call situations when necessary.
