Position Description
Instrumentation and Controls Project Manager•Denver, CO
Are you ready to lead challenging Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) projects while collaborating with a talented, multidisciplinary team?
AE2S is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls (SCADA) Project Manager to help expand our I&C presence in the Denver and greater Colorado market. In this role, you will work closely with I&C professionals across the upper Midwest to lead the planning, design, integration, and delivery of I&C and SCADA improvements for municipal water and wastewater facilities.
This position is ideal for a hands-on I&C Project Manager who thrives in a dynamic, varied work environment. You'll spend time out in the community building connections with new and existing clients, in the office managing projects from concept through completion, and onsite in the field overseeing implementation, troubleshooting, and ensuring successful system startup. Responsibilities
Project Management & Client Leadership
Serve as Project Manager for I&C and SCADA projects (upgrades, expansions, conversions, and new facilities).
Manage scope, schedule, budget, change management, risk, and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
Lead client meetings, develop agendas/minutes, and communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly.
Support proposals, task orders, and pursuit strategies; contribute to fee development and staffing plans.
Technical Leadership (I&C / SCADA)
Lead development and review of I&C deliverables including:
Control narratives and sequences of operation
Instrument lists, I/O lists, P&IDs coordination, loop diagrams
Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical teams to integrate automation requirements.
Partner effectively with
PLC/SCADA
integrators and owner operations staff to ensure maintainable solutions. Support cybersecurity-conscious design practices Construction & Startup Support Support construction administration: submittal/RFI review, field observations, coordination with contractors. Help troubleshoot field issues and drive resolution with integrators, contractors, and owner teams. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 10 years of experience within the instrumentation and control systems field. Experience with programming, start-up, commissioning, and service of complex instrumentation and control systems. Demonstrated ability to establish, monitor, and meet scope, schedule and budget on projects or elements of work. Ability to manage and lead teams, fostering collaboration across disciplines. Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts with clients and other employees. Knowledge of implementation systems and controls design process. Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar field. ISA Automation Project Management (APM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months. Experience in the water/wastewater industry or related experience; experience with design-build, design-bid-build, and construction management at risk (CMAR) project delivery ideal. Physical Qualifications Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain. Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist. Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight. May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds. Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear. May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload. May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
