Shipping Job Summary Indiana Packers is seeking a reliable, hardworking individuals to join our team in our Shipping Department. In this role, team members will sort boxes onto pallets, place the pallets in our cold storage facility and load semitrucks operating forklift and other equipment for products to be delivered to customers. This Factory Shipping position is needed for 8-10 hours a day, including mandatory overtime and Saturdays. Shift hours for this position vary based on the team assigned. Responsibilities Team members will receive, sort and stock products into pallets. Scan the boxes, make tags for pallets, and place the pallets in our cold storage facility. Use forklift to move products from cold storage to semitrucks, ready for distribution Perform physically demanding work in extreme cold environments, that requires attention to detail, strength, stamina and good hand-eye coordination (while keeping safety as top priority). Able to recognize and act on incidents of safety risk and report all shipping problems to Supervisor or Lead person. Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers by maintaining a positive work atmosphere. Qualifications At least 18 years of age Forklift Certified preferred, must be able to operate forklift and pallet jack safely and efficiently. We will train if not certified. Experience with inventory control procedures is strongly preferred. Able to lift and exert push and/or pull a force of 50-100 lbs. and perform constant repetition of stacking boxes weighing up to 100 lbs. Rehire criteria is 120 days of waiting period from most recent termination date. Three times rule, candidates are not eligible if they worked for Indiana Packers 3 times already. Willing to work in cold and freezing temperatures and stand on concrete floors for extended periods of time Must be able to work in wet, humid and odorous environments Able to learn to use bar code scanner and handheld scanner equipment Work while wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Understand and follow oral and written English instructions including company policies & procedures. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to cold temperatures, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. Physical Demand The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects up to 100 lbs., walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arms and fingers, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina and vision.
