Day Shift Maintenance Technician Job Description The Day Shift Maintenance Technician performs advanced maintenance and repair on CNC machines and related manufacturing equipment in an automotive production environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing CNC systems, motors, gantry systems, VFDs, spindles, and ball screws to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of production lines. Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and repair on CNC machines to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Diagnose and repair issues with motors, gantry systems, VFDs, spindles, and ball screws using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods. Inspect, maintain, and adjust hydraulic and pneumatic systems to support reliable machine operation. Use CNC troubleshooting techniques and basic CNC programming knowledge to identify and resolve control and operation issues. Conduct preventive maintenance on CNC equipment and related systems according to established schedules and procedures. Document maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used in a clear and accurate manner. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions. Ensure all work complies with safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company maintenance standards. Monitor machine performance and proactively address emerging issues before they impact production. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, uptime, and maintenance processes. Essential Skills Hands-on experience performing maintenance and repair on CNC machines in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CNC repair, including troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on CNC equipment. Experience working with spindles, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair or replacement. Experience working with ball screws, including alignment, lubrication, and replacement as needed. Ability to troubleshoot and repair gantry systems used in automated or CNC equipment. Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), including setup, troubleshooting, and replacement. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with Fanuc CNC systems and controls. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation related to CNC machinery and components. Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive or similar high-volume production. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in an automotive manufacturing setting or similar industrial environment. Exposure to CNC programming concepts to assist with diagnosing control-related issues. Ability to work effectively on different shifts as needed, including day and other assigned shifts. Strong communication skills to collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and repair. Work Environment The role is based in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility that produces automotive and transportation-related components, including systems related to valve timing controls in vehicles. While the environment is climate-controlled, areas around the machines can become warm, and fans are provided to improve comfort. Steel-toe footwear is required, and the company supplies additional personal protective equipment such as ear plugs and safety glasses. Maintenance technicians work on and around CNC machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gantry systems, VFDs, spindles, and ball screws in an active production setting. Positions are available across multiple shifts, including day and other designated shifts, providing coverage for continuous operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monroe, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
