The Inspector Packer is responsible for inspecting and packing parts as well as assisting with the maintenance of a hygienic, food safe manufacturing environment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes, but not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned as needed. Inspector Packer I and Temporary Inspector Packer I- Entry level production employee.
- Verify customer requirements are being met using the Work Order and QAIP posted at the Cell.
- Visually inspect parts
- identify defects and separate reject parts using proper containers.
- Conduct hot shots at required intervals and record as necessary, alert appropriate personnel of issues as needed.
- Use gauges, scales, and visual inspection techniques to test, inspect and verify part requirements are being met where required.
- Package parts according to customer requirements as documented on the Packing Procedure.
- Verify the label is correct, label is placed properly on the container, and proper placement of parts or boxes on pallets.
- Communicate with Cell Leaders, Technicians, QA Inspectors and Material Handlers as needed using call buttons. Inspector Packer II and Temporary Inspector Packer II
- In addition to all the duties and responsibilities of IPI, the Inspector Packer II is required to complete training on the following:
- Operation of the more complex machinery, including lining machines and automation.
- Rework and sorting.
- Special projects. Inspector Packer III
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the IPI and IPII, the Inspector Packer III is required to be proficient in the following:
- Provide on the job training for new and temporary IPs.
- Motivate, mentor and support IP1 and IPII.
- Refresher training when needed.
- Communicate training needs and results throughout relevant hierarchy.
- Lunch and breaks with new SSP employees or temporary IPs to help them become familiar with our organization and SSP procedures. Inspector Packer BUG
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the IPI and IPII, this Inspector Packer is required to complete Grinder training. This IP will fulfil the role of IP most days but is prepared to fill in as Grinder as needed. Inspector Packer BUQA
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the IPI and IPII, this Inspector Packer is required to complete Quality Assurance training. This IP will fulfil the role of IP most days but is prepared to fill in as Quality Assurance as needed. Inspector Packer BUMH
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities of the IPI and IPII, this Inspector Packer is required to complete Material handler training. This IP will fulfil the role of IP most days but is prepared to fill in as Material Handler as needed. Safety
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following all company safety policies and practices.
- Verify safety guards are in place while operating any equipment.
- Alert supervisor of any safety hazards in the work area.
- Report all accidents and near misses immediately. Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Sweep, clean and wipe down machines and other tasks as assigned. Food Safety
- All employees are required to understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous machine operation experience is preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS
: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate information to other employees as needed. Ability to write or transfer simple information to their scrap sheet and/or production labels as required.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to use a calculator or paper to add, subtract and multiply whole numbers. Ability to transfer numbers to their scrap sheet and/or production labels as required.REASONING ABILITY
: The Inspector Packer must be able to comprehend and carry out all work instructions. They must be able to use good judgment and handle problems in a professional manner and recommend solutions.OTHER SKILLS
The Inspector Packer needs to be self-motivated and have good organizational and dexterity skills to maintain production and quality requirements.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Requires regular standing, walking, manipulating hands, wrist, and fingers to grasp tools and parts as well as reaching with hands and arms. IPs are required to be able to lift up to 55 lbs using proper lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT
: While performing the duties of this job, Inspector Packers work near moving mechanical parts. They are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level on the Manufacturing floor is loud. SSP is climate controlled. The following personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to be always worn when performing in this role while on the manufacturing floor: safety glasses and hearing protection. Food Safety protective equipment is always required while on the manufacturing floor: including hair nets, gloves and, if applicable, beard nets.Job Type:
