Job Description
JOB NOTE
CHATTAHOOCHEEVALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.
This is a full-time 50% teaching and 50% coaching position supervising an assistant coach and work-study students, volunteers, and team managers as assigned. The employee is responsible for teaching classes as assigned in one of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Mathematics, Sciences, Physical Education, or Health Sciences, and coaching and coordinating all activities of the men's basketball team. In addition, as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), this position reports to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith.Salary:
Salary level will be determined by the educational attainment and years of directly applicable experience according to Salary Schedule D-1. The salary range for nine months is $51,487-$94,363. Summer employment may be available (an additional amount of $15,904-$29,184), but is not guaranteed.Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as indicated on this vacancy notice and must submit a completed online application packet through the online application system by the deadline date in order to be considered for this position. %Instructional Duties:

Design and administer at least three evaluations for grade determination each semester.Demonstrate knowledge in teaching discipline.
Teach assigned classes.
Meet classes for scheduled periods of time.
Carry out all assignments according to schedule.
Use written objectives as criteria for evaluation of student performance.
Use appropriate teaching-learning aids, materials, technologies, and methodologies; utilize instructional technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
Maintain accurate class records.
Prepare course syllabi and objectives in conjunction with departmental guidelines.
Submit syllabi to the Department Chairperson for approval.
Distribute syllabi and objectives in all classes.

Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education in order to remain current in discipline and teaching techniques.Master software as needed in order to enhance instruction.
Demonstrate willingness to assist colleagues with instruction ideas and methodologies.
Participate in departmental selection of texts and teaching materials for assigned courses.
Recommend appropriate supplementary and complementary subject materials to the Learning Resource Center.
Plan, implement, and evaluate both introductory and advanced college transfer courses appropriate to the community college level discipline.
Commitment to Students Outside the
Classroom:
Maintain appropriate office hours.Serve as an academic advisor in assisting students in developing educational goals.
Assist students in course selection.
Participate in all College registration activities (advance registration, New Student Experience, late registration, and drop/add).Attend student functions.
Respond to student questions/emails in a timely manner.
Commitment to the

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.Maintain a minimum of thirty-five (35) hour work week.
Maintain and submit all required records and reports, including class records and reports.
Participate in College's planning process.
Serve on institutional committees.
Attend all required academic functions (i.e. departmental meetings, faculty meetings, graduation, etc.)Attend campus activities outside the normal work hours, whenever possible.
Perform duties within established time frames (i.e. submission of class/office hours forms, class rosters, course grades, reports, etc.)Aggressively recruit students for the program and the College at large.

Head Coaching Duties:
Coach all aspects of the men's basketball program, including weight training; conditioning; and practice in preparation for games; coach team during games and coordinate officials, scorekeepers, and announcers for home games.Work effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
Assume responsibility for preparing and upkeep of athletic facilities.
Establish an adequate system for handling equipment, which includes issuing, collecting, purchasing, and accounting.
Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and respect for players, opponents, fans, and other coaches.
Maintain positive relationships with all segments of the community, including the media, coaches, sales personnel, officials, and parents; serves as positive role model.
Monitor athletes' class attendance, grades, and personal conduct.
Apply discipline in a positive, firm, and consistent manner in accordance with policy.
Respond promptly to student athletes' injuries with approved first aid techniques and report injuries to administration in a timely manner, and submit incident reports as warranted.
Adhere to and keep abreast of the National Junior College Athletic Association and the Alabama Community College Conference policies, regulations, and rules; stay abreast of the latest information on coaching; attend coaching clinics; attend mandatory ACCC meetings.
Make adequate provisions for pregame and postgame details, including game results to the media and/or the Commission or other appropriate persons, immediately after the conclusion of each sporting event. Maintain adequate records, including appropriate financial records and statistics.
Provide statistical reports to the Athletic Director, Dean of Students and Campus Services, and Alabama Community College Conference as needed and/or requested.
Schedule games with consideration for other campus and athletic department events.
Make provisions for transportation, lodging, and meals for the team when necessary.
Maintain an active schedule to recruit prospective players; contact high school coaches; attend high school tournaments, conduct tryouts; visit prospective players and parents; tour campus with prospective players and parents; assist out-of-town players to relocate here; aid in students' enrollment; ensure player eligibility.
Independently fundraise for the men's basketball program to offset budget limitations.
Supervise direct reports, including managers, effectively; complete annual performance appraisals as required.
Assist the Athletic Director with issuing and collecting textbooks for men's basketball each semester.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain confidentiality of identified sensitive information and departmental information.Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by the College.
