Job Description

The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Intake Specialist to join our team. In this vital role in providing clients with access to behavioral health services by overseeing the intake process for new clients. The role involves conducting initial assessments, gathering required documentation, and collaborating with clinicians to ensure seamless integration into clinic programs. The Intake Specialist serves as the first point of contact, ensuring a warm, professional, and supportive experience for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Initial Client Contact:
Serve as the first point of contact for clients seeking services, providing compassionate and professional support.
Client Assessments :
Conduct intake interviews to collect personal, medical, and psychological history from clients. Use screening tools to assess client needs and determine appropriate services.
Documentation:
Gather and process necessary documentation, such as consent forms, insurance verification, and financial assessments, in compliance with Agency policies and regulations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with clinicians, case managers, and other staff to ensure appropriate client placement and timely access to services.
Scheduling :
Coordinate and schedule initial appointments, ensuring that clients are informed of their next steps in the care process.
Insurance Verification :
Verify insurance eligibility, confirm coverage for behavioral health services, and work with clients to clarify any billing or payment questions.
Data Entry :
Accurately enter client data into electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
Crisis Management:
Recognize signs of distress or crisis during intake and connect clients with immediate resources as needed.
Follow-up:
Conduct follow-up calls or emails to ensure clients complete intake paperwork, attend scheduled appointments, and answer any additional questions.
Community Resources :
Provide referrals to community resources and support services, assisting clients in accessing additional care beyond the Agency's scope.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or social services setting.
Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in clinical assessment, case management, and documentation practices. Expertise in working with mental health and substance use disorder populations. Understanding of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented systems. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage diverse populations with sensitivity and professionalism. High organizational skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Why Join Us?
