Intern:
General Purpose of Job:
This role is an internship opportunity with a primary focus on learning and developing freight knowledge and experience through practical application. The Truckload Carrier Sales department is the operational support for our nationwide sales team. Candidate will be responsible for booking and tracking shipments of freight. The role requires the ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritize daily workload. Candidate must be able to overcome issues and resolve problems. Candidates must be comfortable on the phone and have great communication skills. Strong negotiating skills and the ability to develop relationships with carriers are a must. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, develop your logistics skills and collaborate with very talented people across our organization.
Training:
Candidate will job shadow for several weeks along with hands-on training with observation until candidate is confident to work individually. This role is an internship opportunity, and the candidate may be subjected to training in other support facing departments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Utilize TMS system as well as web-based load boards to book and track shipments of freight Ability to multi-task and get accurate updates to sales force Negotiate rates with carriers Make minimum of 100 calls a day to book available loads Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements Long periods working from computer workstation. Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize daily workload. Comfortable with communications that are primarily on the telephone. Occasional bending, twisting, and stretching. Able to lift up to 10 pounds at times. Ability to handle stressful situations and occasionally working extended hours
Education & Qualifications:
