Job Description

Job Summary Sqooasha has provided education and human services since 2017, supporting individuals with disabilities through structured, outcome-driven programs that promote competitive, integrated employment. We operate with clear expectations, professional accountability, and a strong emphasis on documentation quality, follow-through, and client-centered outcomes. The Job Development & Retention (JDR) Specialist provides direct employment-related services to individuals with disabilities, supporting them in preparing for employment, securing competitive job placement, and maintaining employment over time. This role combines job search skills development, employer engagement, placement support, and short-term retention services. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing client coaching with employer-facing responsibilities.

85015 About the JDR Program Job Development & Retention services support individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining competitive, integrated employment consistent with their vocational goals, abilities, and informed choice. Services may include job search skills development, job search assistance and placement, short-term job supports, supported employment services, and coordination of extended services when applicable. JDR services are practical, skills-based, and outcome-focused. They are not therapy, counseling, or long-term job coaching beyond authorized scope. Key Responsibilities Direct Employment Services Provide individualized job search skills training, including resumes, cover letters, job applications, interviewing techniques, and use of job search platforms. Assist clients in identifying employment opportunities aligned with vocational goals, strengths, and preferences. Support clients with job applications, interview preparation, hiring events, and employer follow-up. Support informed decision-making around disability disclosure and workplace accommodations. Job Placement & Employer Engagement Build and maintain professional relationships with employers, community partners, and employment networks. Support job placement in competitive, integrated employment settings. Assist clients with onboarding needs such as initial paperwork, schedules, workplace expectations, and dress requirements. Evaluate employment stability and job satisfaction following placement. Short-Term Job Supports & Retention Provide short-term supports to help clients maintain employment for at least ninety (90) days after placement. Support workplace communication, conflict resolution, attendance expectations, and appropriate leave requests. Assist clients in developing natural supports in the workplace and community. Provide follow-up contact or job coaching support as appropriate to reinforce job stability. Service Quality & Professional Practice Ensure services remain within authorized scope and aligned with JDR service objectives. Adapt services to physical, cognitive, sensory, or mental health-related needs. Coordinate interpreting or accessibility services when required (e.g., ASL or foreign language). Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards. Documentation & Communication Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services, progress, and employment outcomes. Track key milestones including job placement, retention periods, and stabilization indicators. Communicate disengagement, barriers, or concerns promptly through appropriate internal channels. Participate in coordination with supervisors or program staff as required. What This Role Is NOT This role does not provide therapy, counseling, or clinical services and does not involve becoming the employer of record for clients. Services focus on employment preparation, placement, and retention support only. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following: Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Human Services, Disability Studies, or a closely related field plus at least 1 year of full-time experience working with individuals with disabilities OR Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Human Services, Disability Studies, or a closely related field plus at least 2 years of full-time experience working with individuals with disabilities OR High school diploma or GED plus at least 5 years of full-time experience working with individuals with disabilities Personnel without the above qualifications may provide direct services only under supervision and must have a high school diploma or GED plus at least one (1) year of documented experience working with individuals with disabilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in job development, employment services, or vocational rehabilitation. Experience working with individuals with significant disabilities. Experience engaging employers and community partners. Strong written documentation and organizational skills. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus. Background & Work Authorization Requirements Must obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Willing to complete required background and reference checks.
