Part-time Description:

General Statement of Duties The candidate in the position will perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual tasks for the City of Henderson. An employee in this class performs a variety of tasks on varied City grounds including park areas, athletics fields, and recreation centers while abiding by safety rules an regulations. Work assignments vary depending on specific position appointed. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, and possibly hazards associated with maintenance work, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gasses, and oils. Duties may also expose the employee to human body fluids thus the work is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. Assignments are made daily and performed under the direct supervision of the Recreation & Parks employees. Work is reviewed through direct observation,, and quality and quantity of work produced. Recruitment and Selection Guidelines Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders. Participates in basic building maintenance tasks at recreation facilities and parks including basic cleaning restrooms and sweeping floors. Prepares area for play and activities Follows relevant safety practices and procedures in equipment operation. Ability work effectively as part of a team. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, superiors and the general public. Ability to respond courteously to citizens.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and vehicles, to operate hand tools and lawn mowers, and to make visual inspections of work assigned and completed.

Desirable Education and Experience:

Attending any educational setting ie. middle, high, private, alternative school which would provide and diploma or certificate and some experience in unskilled and semi-skilled janitorial work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements of Work:

Must be at least fourteen (14) years of age. Must be able to obtain a workers permit if necessary. Basic first aid and CPR certification is preferred. Actively participate in camp training, meetings and program activities. Applicant must positively pass pre-employment drug screen, physical examination and background check.
