Jr. High English Language Arts / Literature The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles (LA Catholics) - 3.5 Lynwood, CA Job Details 2 hours ago Qualifications Creative writing English Full Job Description St. Philip Neri School is a TK - 8 Catholic elementary school located in Lynwood, CA. We are currently seeking a dynamic, compassionate and dedicated educator to teach in our Junior High Dept. for English Language Arts & Literature (Gr. 6-8). The applicant should be self-driven, able to collaborate with grade level team members, have strong classroom management skills, effective written and oral communication skills, and dedicated to partnering with parents. The teacher candidate must have a love and strong aptitude for English Language Arts and Literature, focused on developing academic and creative writing skills). They will be vital in inspiring a love for reading, critical thinking, and creative writing.
Key responsibilities include:
Curriculum Delivery:
Teach core ELA standards (CA Common Core), literary analysis, and writing mechanics.
Lesson Planning:
Create engaging, differentiated lesson plans for diverse learning needs.
Student Assessment:
Track progress using formative and summative grading tools.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive environment.
Collaboration:
Partner with grade-level teams, school administration and parents. As a homeroom teacher for 6th grade, the teacher will work in collaboration with the junior high team to provide an engaging, rigorous and well-balanced curriculum. Other responsibilities will include teacher administrative duties, student supervision and involvement in extra-curricular and special events planning. The ideal candidate must be a team player dedicated to their professional growth who values the philosophy and mission of Catholic education. As a model of our faith, they are also willing to take part in the community life of the school and parish. St. Philip Neri School is a part of the Archdiocese of L.A. Dept. of Catholic Schools' Solidarity Schools Initiative (Cohort 1) which has proven successful in improving student performance in math and reading. The candidate will receive intense training and instructional coaching support in order to implement the Success for All Reading program in junior high (Reading Edge) where they will develop foundational reading comprehension skills, social emotional wellbeing and cooperative learning strategies to increase student engagement. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Subject Related Field Valid teaching credential (single- or multiple-subject) and/or Master's Degree in the field of education or subject related field is preferred, but not required. Candidates in the process and enrolled in a teacher preparation program are welcomed to apply. At least 2 or more years of teaching preferred, but training and support will be provided for new teachers Catechetical Certification (or in progress) Willingness to grow professionally and attend trainings as needed Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
